Just ordered my first CEC course! :)

Well, I figured I'd go an get started w/ my CEC's while I'm still in this study mindset.

There's was one that was perfect for what I'm trying to focus on as a trainer, it's: ACEs Practical Guide to In-home Personal Training.

It's only 0.2 CEC credits but right now with the big ACE exam only a week behind me, I wanted to start with something where I don't have to learn a crazy amount at once for a long quiz. Plus I'm putting most of my time into putting all my business stuff together.

I figure another 3 weeks and I should be physically ready to train clients. I'm still building up my strength from the surgery, but I'm making great progress.

I will be taking out an ad in a very widely distributed parent magazine (which is nicely done and free for consumers) and my website should be done within the next week.

My business is called Time4You Personal Fitness. I want to focus on folks who don't normally make time for themselves because they are busy taking care of everyone elses need (be they family, work, etc.), but who may want someone to come to them for In-home training.

I'm excited because I think there is a niche for this sort of thing and it fits my personality perfectly. A lot of the adult piano students that I've had over the years play piano to finally do something for themselves, something they've not had the opportunity to do because they are spread so thin.

I'm hoping there will be clients who are in the same mindset, that they will finally start to make time to take care of themselves.

Take care,

Scott

Hi Shawn,

I did actually incorporate that idea into my website material. I have a page called "what's in a name" which sort of points to that idea among others. The target client I want to train is definitely the person who will benefit from the wellness perspective of training.

Once the web site is complete, I'll post a link here so I can get feedback and ideas from everyone.

I appreciate you giving me your thoughts on that and welcome any further ideas when I post the link!

Take care,

Scott

Its been hard to find time for anything lately between clients, school full time, and two a day workouts.  lol but it does keep me busy and out of trouble.

Be careful!  I just ordered a myofascial release CEC course from ACE...and when I went to take the test they informed me that it doesn't count for ACE...even though it was in THEIR CEC section.  I am royally, ROYALLY ticked. This was NOT inexpensive.
