Tekva's meltdown! :-D

There are so few gentlemen left in the world that I am really embarrassed about this, but I did it without forethought!

A very nice gentleman brought some boxes up to my desk from our shipping area.  I told him that I wasn't sure whose they were (they weren't mine), but that he should leave them and when I found out who got them, I'd take them.

He very kindly said, "No, I'll pick them up for you."

"Why?" Said I.

"Because I don't believe in a woman lifting heavy objects."

Um.

I blew.  Told him I could teach him a few things about weight lifting, and other such rants.

I apologized.

But I blew!

Poor guy!  I really apologized and told him I knew he was being a gentleman and I was so sorry, that it was a gut reaction.

His reaction almost made me blow again.

"That's all right dear."

biggrin

Well, you know, the feminist movement has always bugged me a little.  I like being a lady and I like the guys in my life to be GUYS.  But his assumption that because I was a woman I shouldn't bother my pretty little head about moving the big old box really hit me in the solar plexus!  On Saturday I was up on a 10 foot ladder sawing limbs off an overgrown sycamore (with a hand saw), and before that I powerwashed the entire house and fixed a broken sidewalk!  I'm also the breadwinner in my household and I handle everything there is to handle, so this just made me go bleh
