You, my friend, will not have a problem at all!! You are sooo ready! You've been tutoring us all!
Hope your neck is better. Have you gotten a 2nd opinion?
Hi Jan,
I hope you're right about my chances for success w/ the exam. I do feel I know the material really well, but I know sometimes exams can be structured in a way that are just plain confusing even if you know the stuff so I'm not sure what to expect. :)
Thanks for asking about my neck, I'm seeing a second neurosurgeon Tuesday just to get another opinion and see if he and the first are on the same page.
The first one called me yesterday after seeing my MRI (he had been out of town when I got it done and just got back in his office yesterday, but the MRI was already at his office for him to see).
Unfortunately my MRI was pretty much all cervical and he thinks my problem may be more upper thoracic. While my cervical spine is pretty messed up he didn't definitively feel that was where my problem was stemming from. I guess C7-8 and the area of T1 both could contribute to the numbness in my pinky/ring finger (from the ulna nerve).
I'm just hoping to avoid surgery at this point so if I need to get that other MRI I guess I'll be getting it. I'm hoping an epidural will work but I know they are "hit or miss", but then again, there's never a total guarantee w/ surgery either.
Thanks for the well wishes and congrats again, I can't wait to be on the "other side" of the exam. I keep studying, trying to keep it all fresh and doing various practice tests, but I just want to do the real thing already!
Congrats Jan!!!!!! That must be a HUGE relief!!!! What was your take on the test? Any advice you can throw out to us still trying to absorb all of this?
YES, YES, YES, YES! CONGRATULATIONS! Isn't it the best feeling in the world?!
Oh, and uh, Scott...stop worrying. You could teach the ACE instructors a thing or two! You're in, brother.
Thanks Nora,
I must admit that I got concerned when Vonni said stuff was different from the book and exercise etc. disk etc...
Of course no matter what the exercise etc disk is a great review tool of the material, but I am curious as to more info on the types of questions, scenarios they asked on the actual test.
Either way, I'll just show up and do the best I can with the info I know but I can't deny that I'm extremely curious as to what I will be seeing on test day (not specific questions, just format, types of questions etc.)!
For example, I bought the Exercise etc. case book, which unfortunately has a LOT of the stuff from the disc. Still, the format is different, they name a client and tell a bunch about them and then all the questions are based on the client's scenario (there's a couple questions that seem out of context, but not many).
I'd really be grateful if folks here who have taken the test could maybe explain the format of the questions, if they are at all like any of the sample tests (that came w/ the ACE packages), the home study questions or exercise etc. disc.
Scott, they're honestly a bit like all of them -- Exercise, Etc., the online tests we got in email every week, the ACE online practice exam...and yet they're like none of them. I know that sounds confusing...best thing I can say is that if you know the material (and you do), that's all that counts. You know it, you're going to pass well.

Thanks Nora, I guess I just need to keep studying away and be confident and just deal with it the day I do it! :)
Thanks guys! I just got back from a week at the beach with my family! How nice it was to relax and enjoy with the test behind me! Now I'm gonna get my resume (that won't be too hard since I've not worked in 20 years!) and get out there this week looking for a job. Would like to get in a gym for some hands on experience
About the test....there were no karvonean formulas, or BMI or calorie expenditure...just a couple of lean/fat problems. There were a couple of questions that were just like exercise etc, but not many. It's kinda hard to explain the format of the questions....I could narrow the choices down to 2, but it was kind of difficult to determine from those 2 sometimes. A good bit of scenario questions, not much of memorized facts. I should have given more examples while it was fresh on my mind, but Thurs. after the test, I was too pumped to sit at my computer and Friday I was making up for lost time (from studying) to pack my family for vacation! If something comes to mind...I'll let you know!
