During cardio: old rock, new country, blues While reading: light classical Misc. background: all of the above plus big band/swing
I'm Jewish, but I also like some Christian spirituals, especially "black gospel," and some country-type (Oak Ridge Boys/Statler Bros.)
General observation: Today's 20-somethings are the smartest, most sophisticated generation we've ever had. But they're also living proof that the good music gene occasionally skips a generation!
What kind of classical do you like, Barry? I'm a Mozart fanatic. I credit the movie Amadeus intriguing me with Mozart's music (and his personality...who couldn't fall in love with a nut case like that!?). Obviously, the movie was fiction, but the music swept me in, held me, and I've been a Mozart fan for years now. I love the joy of his music. Someone once called Mozart's music the laughter of God (I can agree with that, although Papa Bach's music is in that category, too).
Outside of Mozart I have been a Beatles fanatic since before they hit the Ed Sullivan show in '64 (my teenaged sister was actually the fan back then, so I got it by osmosis).
I also love (LOVE!) Glenn Miller (both the original band and the band in existence today, which still tours...it started out with the original members and as they retired or passed away new members took their places). Also love Sinatra (early stuff (40s to mid 50s), not so much his later stuff - 60s to 90s).
To a lesser degree, Billy Joel (what a great poet), Elton John...and I'm sure others will occur to me!
LOL! Right. Mozart is still intimidating people!! What music. Sometimes it sounds almost contemporary to me...but maybe that's just because I listen to it so often!
