I was curious, how many times can you take the ACE online diagnostic exam?
I took it this morning, did pretty well, got 5 wrong out of 60 (a result I could definitely live with for the "real" test) and also printed out the PDF (40 pages, wow!) which has excellent explanations as to why the ones that are wrong are wrong and why the correct answers are in fact correct!
Anyway, I thought I read somewhere that you can take it up to 4 times or until you get 100%.
I actually wasn't sure how I did so I intentially chose an obvious wrong answer for number 60 just on the chance that I got the rest of the exam right (that wasn't one of the 5 that I got wrong unfortunately).
Aside from what I saw at the message board I didn't see any definitive info about how that all worked. Maybe it was there and I just missed it.
Oh, one more question for those who did that and already took the real exam. Is it very similar in terms of the way it is presented? I wasn't sure if the real exam showed one question at a time (like the online practice exam as well as exercise etc.) or if it was like the "home study questions" which has a whole bunch per page and which you scroll down.
Not that it REALLY matters either way, I'm just curious what it will look like :)
Scott, I think you can take it three times. Is it similar to the test? I think the test is sort of a combination of everything they've been throwing at us -- the weekly emails, the diagnostic, Exercise, Etc. It doesn't look like any one of them, but it's sort of a combination, with a few other things thrown in to boot. If you can do all of those well, you're more than ready.

Hi Nora,
Thanks so much for answering about that so quickly, I appreciate that!
I feel like I'll be in pretty good shape for the exam, I tend to score well on the practice tests. Of course the only test that matters is the real one but I definitely feel my confidence is increasing by doing all the different formats. At this point I'm rotating the formats so that I can't memorize the answers. Also, whenever there's one w/ math on it, I make myself do the math even if I remember the answer.
I am happy that I feel more comfortable doing the math stuff. When I first started, I couldn't remember how to do long division and now it's much easier.
I actually did better on the Practice Exam than I expected (got more right that I thought I did). The crazy thing is that some of the questions I wasn't totally sure of my answer I got right, a couple I was mostly sure about I got wrong.
I'm glad I did it today though so I have an even clearer picture of what I need to refine in terms of my understanding.
Hopefully by August 14th I'll have all this stuff down in a way that I won't have to second guess myself.
That PDF file that came w/ the test with the detailed explanation was WELL worth the cost of the test. It's an expensive test compared to the exercise etc disc but that PDF justified the price for sure!
