Body Fat Calipers?

Hi again,

I was curious what calipers folks here use.

There are a bunch out there. I can't go too crazy financially but I want to get something that'll work.

I was originally going to purchase a bunch of stuff while I was studying, but I decided to wait until I was certified. I figured the lack of working w/ it wouldn't be critical for the test and I have a month to practice with it all before I would be training anyway :)

Take care,

Scott

Curiously enough, my clients have shied away from the calipers as though they might bite!  I have been using a tape measure.  I'm HOPING to get the chance to use the calipers SOMETIME!  smile

Hi Nora,

What kind of calipers do you have?

I went and got my sphymomenometer and stethoscope today from a medical supply place downtown Nashville, so that's all done. Got a really nice 65 cm GAIM stability ball to use for clients (I have a 75 cm for myself that I have loved!).

Still, want to get a BOSU at some point and some other stuff, but I'm getting close to having all I'll need. I still have time, need to get stronger still.

I'm also trying to find a name for my training business. If worse comes to worse I'll just use my name, but I'd rather have a name that expresses what my approach will be.

HEY, my wife just walked in with the mail, I got my certificate and card in the mail w/ the package (I thought I'd have to wait at least 3 more weeks) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COOL!!!!! :)

Thanks,

Scott

Hey Scott,

Just wanted to let you know - I actually got my BOSU at Target ON SALE!!!  Check them out periodically - you may hit it when it is on sale!  I paid 20.00 less than almost all other places I saw! I grabbed it and ran!  biggrin

All the best with your set up!!!  Are you going to do "on line" training as well?  I would sign up in a second! smile

Take Care,

Susan

I found that the higher the percentage of body fat the more unrealistic it is to pinch correctly so I use a BIA handheld device from Perform Better( I get all my stuff from them)

http://www.performbetter.com/detail.aspx_Q_ID_E_4179_A_CategoryID_E_199

it is not as accurate but it does show improvement so it is effective

they also have a free trainer directory listing that they just started last week...

Hi Sue,

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I've been really busy writing up all the stuff for my website. My wife is doing the website for me (we got 2 pages done this morning, I'll post a link when it's done. I'm using the same head shot as here, but I'll put some pics of my exercising w/ the portable gear I'll be using to train folks as well).

Thanks for the tip on the BOSU, I'd love to save some money right now since I'm buying so much stuff!

Right now I'm not going to do online training because I want to put all my focus into the home training stuff (plus I'm teaching about 30 piano lessons a week so I don't want to spread myself too thin). I do appreciate your kind words though! biggrin.gif

Take care of yourself!

Scott

Hi Shawn,

Thanks for the link and the tip on that, I'll need to look that up!

I hope all is going well for you!

Take care,

Scott
