Question about CEC's

Hi everyone,

Okay, here's where I get to sound REALLY clueless! :)

I have been so focused on passing the exam that I don't remember learning about how the whole CEC thing works.

I believe you need 2 CEC credits every 2 years.

Okay, so if you purchase CEC materials, do you take the quiz for the CEC's on your home computer? I was figuring they didn't make you go to a testing center for a proctored type thing (please tell me you can take these at home :))

I did want to add that I know you can also take live classes/workshoups and stuff. How do you get the CEC credits for those?

I'm figuring a lot of this will be in my ACE package when I get my certificate etc.... but they said it could be 4 to 6 weeks and I wanted to start to plan in advance for the CEC's while I'm also getting all my other business stuff in order.

Thanks and take care,

Scott

Never mind about my question, I've been spending time on the ACE site and see that there are many ways to get CEC's.

It's amazing how much they have to choose from, there's a LOT I'm interested in!

I'll definitely start w/ the courses that are less CEC's after having just gone through that marathon to pass the ACE exam. I would like to take "small bites" now, not have to eat the whole thing at once! chew.gifbiggrin.gif

Take care,

Scott

Scott, I took the two day live session, which ate up most of the CECs I need for the two years.  It was VERY beneficial, a LOT of fun, and I learned a great deal.

Hi Nora,

When you do a live session like that, do they also quiz you at the end or do you get credit just for attending.

Not that I can imagine any of the CEC's being like the actual exam, I was just curious :)

I know that occasionally they have some stuff in Nashville (actually Williamson County which is where I live). I'll have to keep my eyes open for that.

There's a lot of stuff that's home based that I'm also interested in. I may start whittling away at some of the smaller ones pretty soon.

Right now I've got to get my "ducks in a row", w/ insurance, figure out a name for my business, get a separate cell phone for it, business cards, get some calipers and blood pressure stuff, work up an ad for a local magazine that I had tremendous success with years ago for teaching, yadda yadda yadda blahblah.gif

But then I'm going to choose one of the smaller CEC's I think, unless a course comes to town. I'd LOVE to do a class with real people, it was hard doing all that studying on my own for the past year w/o having a teacher. It was more convenient of course being able to do stuff on my own schedule, but there were times I wished I had a teacher to speak with in the same room. I guess it did make me have to be very resourceful, so there were some benefits.

Take care,

Scott

No test, Scott, just two days of hands-on with what we learned in the exam.  A LOT of fun, but you might want to make sure you're healthy first, since it's all very physical.  There is one segment where, in ten minutes or less, you have to design a program for a client.  THAT was fun.

Hi Nora,

That sounds like a great program, I hope something like that comes to my area in TN!

I'd also love to be able to get all those CEC's in one shot like that as well, that would be awesome!

Thanks for telling me about it, I appreciate it!

Best wishes,

Scott
