Exerc. ETC question..Scott I know you had this one....

I know Scott talked about this on the ACE discussion but I couldn't find it....

This is the one about 117 lb woman doing heavy endurance.  How much protein does she need....

Ok....117 lbs = 53.18 kg
If consider high end of active (1gm/kg), 53.18 x 4 (cal/gm protein) = 212
(not correct answer, but a choice)  Correct answer was 320....

53.18 x 1.2 = 63.81    (1.2 as this is for low end athletes)

63.81 x 4 = 255 cal of protein

53.18 x 1.8 (high end for athletes) = 95.72
95.72 x 4 = 382

Where do they get 320?

Hi,

This question messed me up as well at first but I think it's like this:

53 X 1.5 (grams of protein) = 79.5 grams of protein

79.5 X 4 = 318

so I guess you round it off to 320.... something like that :)

I wouldn't bet my life that I did this right but it seems to be in the ball park :)

Take care,

Scott

Thanks, guys! Shawn, I did email Guy at Exerc.etc before Scott responded, but haven't heard from him yet....

So Scott, what made you pick 1.5, just being in the middle range of 1.2 and 1.8?

BTW, Scott, I'll be praying for you too!! I know that has to be a real "pain in the neck" (Sorry, not making fun...just couldn't resist! That is just my warped sense of humor coming out) Get your second opinion before opting for surgery! The massaage sounds good to me!
