Noobie Talia

I everyone! My name is Talia and I live in Buffalo. NY.  Well I live in a small town about 1/2 hour away but people are more familiar with "Buffalo" than a small red-neck-town.

Anyways..I have been really into fitness/working out and getting into shape and being healthy for the past year.  I took the New York State Tropper test and was working my butt off hoping to be called this year but to my dissapointment I ended up with a rank of 13,652 (not sure out of how many people, at least 28,000).  So in the meantime I want to be a personal trainer at the gym I am currently at.

I love working out and know I will love the job.  I was planning on taking the test at the end of July but am thinking about waiting a little longer to make sure I have all the material down pat--and there is a lot!

Well, this got a little longer than just a small introduction but I am looking forward to meeting everyone and getting some advice and sudy tips for the exam!

Good luck to everyone taking it!

PeAce, Love, Happiness and Good Health!!

Welcome, Talia!

It sounds like you are about the same place as I am in our studies! I'm hoping to take the test the week of the 21st. I may should wait, but I'm trying to buckle down and focus!

Glad to have you aboard!

Thanks for all of the warm welcomes!

it's just tough to try and throw it behind me when I had so many visions :(

I do strongly believe in "everything happens for a reason" so I am going to study as much as I can for this ACE test and take it when I am ready and hopefully have better luck down this path!

I was also thinking about going back to school to get my master's in nutrition ..but I won't be looking into that until I know I have passed this exam and have a job!!

Thanks again! I appreciate all the support!

Hi Talia,

Welcome!

My wife is a Buffalo State Grade (we're originally from Long Island but now live in TN not far from Nashville), so she probably wasn't too far from where you are back when she was in school (a long time ago :)).

I'm very sorry to hear about your Trooper test, I can imagine that has to be extremely frustrating to deal with.

I do want to wish you all the best with your ACE studies! I have my test coming up on August 14th and I'm hoping things go well for that. I feel ready at this point (I started this past October) but I still do find myself improving daily so I guess having this extra time is being put to good use. :)

I'd definitely recommend not rushing too quickly to take the test, maybe get the exercise etc. disk and see how comfortable you are with that before you book the real thing. It seems to be a good way to help refine the material in a test format. Of course I've not taken the real test yet, but I've seen a huge improvement in my grasp of the subtleties of the material by using it regularly.

Also, the online diagnostic test is helpful as well, but you can only do it so many times.

This message board is a great gift that Nora (Tekva) has given us to support each other both in preparation for the exam and beyond. It has made going thru this process easier because I don't feel like I'm going through it alone. It's helpful to hear about what other folks think about certain things regarding the material and the process.

Even though my wife and kids are very supportive, it's nice to be able to hear about others experiences who are going thru the same thing.

Best with everything,

Scott
