I attended the ACE 2-day workshop this past weekend and it was GREAT!!! It was a little nerve-wracking, but seriously improved my confidence. We did it all -- interview components, testing, assessment, programming, demonstrating, queing ... all of it hands on (even used the stethoscope to determine systolic/diastolic bp). The ACE master trainer was fantastic. He has very high standards/expectations and is seriously focused on us being professionals. I loved it. I came away from that workshop with great tools.
I really enjoyed the one I attended, too...really changed my mind on a few of the things I've been doing. Great workshop. Where did you take yours? Mine was in Gaithersburg (just outside of D.C.). Our instructor had a different take, though. He said that we were taking things too deep! I went hmmmmm a little bit.
Has anyone ever gone to the Exercise Etc.'s 2 day Fitness Essentials Workshops? The topics seem real similar to the ACE workshop, and it happens to be conveniently in my area at the end of July,...Any experience with this out there? And also, to all of you all who have taken or getting ready to take the test,....Will I be prepared enough by the end of July to take this workshop? Currently I am on Chapter 6 and plugging along!!!
You might want to check with Exercise, Etc. if you are planning to take the workshop before the exam. There were several people in our ACE workshop who had not taken the exam and the instructor said they would not get Continuing Education credit for it, and that because this was a "practical" workshop and not a "perfect world" scenario (which he says the text book gives), the conflicting info might lead some people taking the exam astray.
Thanks Nora! I hadn't thought of that...the credit situation wasn't a huge deal, but the conflicting info. could definitely be an issue! Thanks for the heads up - I think I will wait, but still do the webinars!
