Hi Everyone! I'm Denise and I live in Lake Ozark, MO. I was living in Santa Cruz, CA and made a big move to Missouri last July. I have been studying off and on over a year now (mostly off) as many things have gotten in the way. I found that a 2,000+ mile move can throw a wrench into studying along with adjusting to a new lifestyle here. Anyhow, I am 29 and I work for a health and wellness website that actually helped my husband and I lose quite a bit of weight a few years ago. It's the best job for me and has given me a new outlook on life and a new career path. I'm looking to get my PT cert. mostly for info/knowledge to use for my current job. I haven't decided if I will actually get a job at a gym on the side as I will be going back to school to get my BS in Wellness. School starts at the end of August, so I'm trying to get more studying in by then. If I don't happen to feel ready to take the ACE exam, I'm hoping that some of the classes I'm looking at taking will help me with getting a better understanding of the material and then take the exam at the end of the semester.
I've gone through the book once, but don't feel anywhere near where I should be for the info and the anatomy section is still difficult for me. So I am working my way through it again.
Thanks to Tekva for creating this group! I appreciate it as I'm sure everyone else does! You have been an inspiration on the ACE boards even though I haven't posted much there. I'm hoping to post more here though and keep up with everyone.
Wow, Denise, with your present work experience and your background, it sounds like you will have no trouble aceing (cough) the exam! That's great! So glad you found your way over here! Post early, post often!

Thanks Tekva! One might think that, but I don't have that confidence just yet. I know the basics but I get really hung up in remembering the anatomy stuff. My brain just seems to get lost in it all - I don't utilize the anatomy stuff for what I do so I still have a lot of work to do on that. I am going to try some of the tips that you and some of the others like Scott have given on the boards. Hopefully some of those will help it click for me. I am waiting for that wonderful a-ha moment to happen. LOL!
I'm not here to plug the site I work for, but I thought I would mention it to you as I think you and others may be interested in it for yourself and/or clients. It is 100% free - no charge whatsoever (never even have to enter payment info), but it has a nutrition and fitness tracker along with some other helpful ways to track goals. So if you want to check it out: www.sparkpeople.com.
