I believe I've been hired at Gold's Gym. I have accepted and turned down about five jobs...none of them felt RIGHT. It's the oddest thing, though. I pass a Gold's Gym on my way to my office every morning and I just kept thinking, "THAT'S the place." It's a small gym, but it just seemed RIGHT. I did get an interview, had a very productive talk with the hiring trainer, and she said she thought I was "the missing piece in our puzzle." I appear to be the right age to be unintimidating to older clients (which is terrific) and she liked the fact that I was ACE certified.
I have the 2-day live session coming up through ACE June 21, 22, so I'm hoping they'll wait until after that is over. Then I'll be working M-F for three hours after work, and about four hours on Saturday. I can't quit the "day" job right now (can't afford to), but as soon as the clientele picks up, I really hope to go to Gold's full time.
good luck ... I think that i am going to have to suck it up at the end of summer and work for a gym that doesn't allow outside trainers in ... YUCK!! but I am having no luck in finding clients and the other gym in town wants 60% of my fees to let me train clients there...like its not enough to have to pay to drive across town then give away my money uuhhhmmm I DON"T THINK SO!!!

Sigh. Gold's didn't happen. But I think the instant relief I felt should be some indication that I didn't really want it, even though I was pretty sure I did!
I REALLY, really think I want to work on my own. Am seriously considering internet training, which meshes well with my impossible schedule.
